how would I link 2 PC together for good old no lag gaming?

Whats the easiest way? I am wanting to connect to PCs together which is easyer and how do I hook them up.

I heard you can use a direct USB connect from one PC to the other using some kinda software is it possiable? Please list the easiest way and how to hook it up.

How about 2 pci network cards and a bit of coax plus connectors. You could do it for about £20.

I did it that way for a while and it worked fine.

yes, you can use usb with direct cable conection although you will need a special usb to usb connector. unfortunately this isn't a very fast connection. Shagga's suggestion is the best IMO!

what kinda ping/speed we lookin at using a USB to USB on each PC?

2 Linksys or Netgear nics and a crossover cable. Should be around $35-$40.

Was just at best buy on Sunday had netgear cards for $10.

I've actually done this to hook two laptops together. USB latency will be <10ms. USB bandwidth would be ~1.8Mb/s which is more than adequate for gaming, but not so good for file sharing. Unless you are dealing with laptops (PCCard LAN cards are not as cheap as a USB cable connection), the network is the better choice (more versitile and probably cheaper), but the USB setup should be fine for what you want to do with it.

Actually, the kit that my father bought for this was $60 - software and cable together. Back then this was actually considerably cheaper than PCCard Ethernet cards or USB Ethernet. Now USB ethernet adapters are about $35 each and a crossover cable is <$10, so the price difference is neglible. And if these are PC's and you can use PCI network cards, then it will be a lot cheaper to use something like a Linksys networking kit.

As far as easier, no I don't think it really would be. It might be easier if all you wanted to do was transfer files, but once you try and play games (nearly all of which require networking protocols to be set up), you will need to install TCP/IP - which is what you would need when you install the network cards anyway.

Since you said they are PC's, I would highly recommend just buying one of the cheap networking kits that everyone mentioned.

I'll try and find the name of the company that sold the kit my father bought if you insist, but I personally wouldn't recommend doing this.
