how would i go about using ceramique with a northbridge heatsink?

i'm going to replace the fan on my nf7-s with a zalman northbridge heatsink, and i'm wondering how i'd go about doing that with using arctic silver ceramique. the instructions they give for large core cpu's assume the existence of a heat spreader but as far as i can tell there is no heat spreader on the nforce2 SPP. should i just follow the large core cpu instructions, or should i make a thin even layer on top of the chip and then put the northbridge down? my intuition tells me to do the latter but i thought i'd double check with people with more experience first 🙂

I think that northbridge isn't a flip-chip package, so it looks more like the chip on a soundcard or something, just a black square. Either way, apply the compound just like on any CPU or GPU etc. Thin, even layer on the chip and put the heatsink on.

Should be screwed in, so just unscrew and lift. 🙂
Nope, it's a little more involved. Take the motherboard out of the case and squeeze the pushpins and pull them through.
