Hi.
Ive been considering getting myself FarCry DVD Edition.
Pandora Tomorrow was short lived and im bored of X2 now.
But how would it run on my system?

XP1800
768mb PC133
9800pro@411/750(slightly above XT speeds)

The FarCry Demo2 ran reasonably well on my 9700pro@stock at 1280x1024, almost max settings.
Can i expect max everything at 1280x1024? Or will i have to turn some of the options down a little?

The game is still great with some options turned down (quite a few in my case with a ti4400). I reccomend tweaking other stuff as much as you can to leave environment detail on "High" instead of "Medium" - the birds and fish that go away on that transition really add to the ambiance (they're fun to shoot / fish for with grenades too).

IMO, turning shadows down to "Low" gives you the best performance increase for a single settings tweak. With your video card, I'm sure the max setting for texture quality wouldn't be a big problem.

The level that was in the demo was the hardest on my system in terms of framerate, although it seemed worse in-game than it was when I tried the demo (I ran the demo a while ago, hard to say). It comes along pretty early in the game (3rd level I think).

I'm sure you know your bottlenecks better than I, but it seems like if anything is going to hinder you with that rig, it'll be the RAM. The quantity is good though. On my system, FarCry is regularly using ~800MB at peak. Switching to a 512DDR stick could hurt more than help in some spots - although 1GB DDR would definitely help.

Well.
Ive just tryed the demo, and i battled 3 NPCs on the starting island, sniped 3 ppl and raced around in that boat, and it stayed smooth throughout.

Settings i used;
Resolution = 1280x1024
AA = None
AF = None (although i`d like to use 16xPerformance, if that flickering texture problem gets fixed)
Texture Quality = Very High
Texture Filter Quality = Medium
Particle Quality = Medium
Special Effects Quality = High
Enviroment Quality = Very High
Shadow Quality = Medium
Water Quality = High
Lighting Quality = Lighting.

Does the full version run as well as the demo2 ?
I dont mind turning down the shadows/lighting to low if it gets jerky, cos i dont notice those anyway.

Bloody good looking though.
My father, when i showed him a screenshot of Doom3 a while back, thought it looked crap!, and that HL2 looked ok! He was very impressed by Far Cry, he walked into my room as the level started, and saw the water, and the islands/foilage around. Which is high regard from him! lol.

It might be a little CPU limited, otherwise it should run just fine

I run it fine on a XP2100+@2Ghz
1GB PC3200
9800pro@XT

Yeah, a few of my games have been a bit CPU limited. C&C Generals stutters with more than 2 Hard Generals and alot of units, for example.

How would the full version run then?

I think C&C Generals just likes to stutter sometimes :/
I keep getting it doing really bad stuttering for a few minutes at a time, then suddenly be all OK again. Even near the start of a 1v1 skirmish. Come to think of it, only remember it happening after starting to play vs. hard AI.

er anyway, far cry - vid is ab fine, only concern is the CPU and that ram. I've a 9800pro, 2400+ with 768mb of DDR266 (all stock then) and it was fine. I'd leave the "video card" tweaks but turn down anything that's mostly bound to the CPU.

edit: found full version ran a little better than the demos, probably little diff on average FPS but seemed to lose the occasional split-second dip that would happen in demo1.

What sort of options in FarCry would be CPU Specific.
I can only think of sound, and im running the demo with the above mentioned settings & Dolby5.1 /EAX HD on.
