How would a comp with 64megs DDR compare to a computer with 128megs of PC133?

How will they perform compared to each other? Assuming 64 megs of PC2100 vs. 128 megs of PC133. It seems like, theoretically, they should perform about the same. Anyone try this yet? Aces Harware has some benchmarks comparing 128 megs of each. I want to see a 64meg vs 128meg comparison.

I doubt it would be the same.....in the case of RAM, generally you want more of it to fit the programs rather than having to go to the slower hard drive.

Sure you can draw an analogy to 1/2 speed 512KB of cache vs full speed 256KB cache, but since the speed differential is so large between going to RAM and going to hard drive, I would take 128MB of PC133 SDRAM over 64MB of DDR and hard drive thrashing any day.

A ~20% increase in speed for DDR is cancelled out by going to the much slower hard drive.

the 128 will rape the 64, at least in real world performance unless you don;t do a whole lot of multitasking.
