How would a 4% payroll tax shut down a business.

On the news were small Business owners who said arnold plan to require them to pay for health insurance or face a 4% pay roll tax would shut them down. How redicuous, they rather increase their pay than help give their employees healthcare. So disgusting these small business owners.

Yes they are so disgusting, why don't you risk everything you own and go out and open your own little business and show them all how it is done.

You do understand that every extra penny they spend, either on providing health care, or to a payroll tax, comes out of their own pocket?

How would you like it if Arnold decided to take 4% of every dollar you earned?

Go learn how to run a business. Then learn how to spell. Or learn how to spell and then learn how to run a business. Either way.

Oh yeah... and after that, DIAF.

4% isn't that much at all people. It won't ruin them like they are claiming. This isn't about knowing how to run a business.

4% by itself won't ruin them all, but it definitely has the potential to hurt many small businesses. But when do we stop? What if Arnold wants to give all Californians car insurance as well? What if he wants to throw another 4% tax on? This is on top of all the other costs involved in running a small business, something you know nothing about as you are probably about 16 or 17.

You obviously know nothing about running a small business. The business I work for seeks to see a 5-6% net net net margin at the end of the year. It doesn't take much to upset that apple cart. 4% may not sound like much to a moron like you, but to a business owner, it makes a huge impact that has to be dealt with.

Welll.... In America, job = health care is the formula.
They should have supported Hillary's national health care plan. We are the ONLY civilized country that does not have one.

Since thats the current formula for American health care, pay up or shut up.

Better yet. Dont be duped by the insurance lobby TV ad's when national health care is brought up again. Support it!!!

PS. Do you realize we spent 3 TRILLION on health care last year. And still come in 37th in quality compared to all others?

How about you go without a pay raise every year and hand over 4% of your income today to somone living on the street

QFT

What is the actual amount? Is it 4% of all revenues (gross income), 4% of net profit, or 4% of the cost of the payroll?

It sounds like 4% of the cost of the payroll. That doesn't sound nearly as bad as an insane 4% of all revenues. Only problem is that I can't imagine that 4% of the payroll cost would be nearly enough to pay for an employee's health care. More money is going to have to come from another source.

I quite like the system we have. Why on earth would I want to support a system that would provide me with a lesser quality healthcare??

Good

It will weed out businesses that have no business being in business to begin with if they are doing that bad.

5%, what are they going to do, buy some candy?

I'm surprised, why would you work for such a company?

Sounds like they are doomed and should be.

What I love about the left and their noble acts of kindness is it is always with somebody elses money. If Arnold and his democrat friends think this is such a big deal, why dont they start a charity and give to these poor workers? Instead it is always the same old patting themselves on the back by taking one persons money and giving to another.

btw Vegas, fastest growing city in the United States. I think it will continue to be a hot spot after this passes.

And what about the workers of that business. What do they get?

A full-time working person should have affordable health insurance provided. If his employer isn't providing it he is, in effect, STEALING from his workers.

I personally don't think a society that can't (or won't) provide all it's workers with a decent basic health care plan is a society that is doomed.

If his employee's dont like it, leave, and let him know why. Eventually he will have worse workers, and a worse performing company. Stealing implies he is taking something from them. He is under no obligation to provide health insurance. Companies do it because it helps attract talent.

We have got this far without forced healthcare and our society and country is the best on this planet.

You are free to go purchase health care insurance on your own (in fact this is what you do as an employer in most cases). It is certainly not a right, nor should it be.

I find it amazing that this thread is about to degenerate into that same tired healthcare debate by the same people, as if the previous threads about it never happened. This is almost Bush-like in its denial of reality. No matter what evidence has been presented... everyone continues onward with their position like they never saw it, and like they won the debate all along. Pretty sweet.
