<< I spank my 5 year old 40lb son three times and he says "that didn't hurt", laughs and takes off running to play... >>
My 4 year old is that way, i think it is a stage, I can get on to him for something, he just looks at me and says, yes or okay, I turn around and he does it again. He can drive me nuts sometimes.
What my kids get in trouble for the most is lying in my house, I give them a choice, you tell me the truth, even if you did something bad, and you wont get a spanking, you lie to you are getting your butt spanked. That is a habit that need to be controlled early on, i want to be able to trust my kids, not question them, so this is what I am the strictest with. >>
I can not tolerate lying by my kids. I do pretty much the same thing. I explain that the truth is much easier than a lie. They will not get off by telling me the truth but it will be much less severe than to lie and I find out about it later, which I always do.
I can tell when my 8 year old is lying, but I haven't figured out the 5 year old. The 3 year old girl (can't spank the girl, just can't get myself to do it) is just starting to pick up bad habits of the 5 year old, and I still have a couple of years for the 1 year old.
