just got a Lian Li PC-V800 and through the revies I've ready it stays cool but has the potential to be very noisy (with its wide holes and lack of coverage)

i bought it for looks, so sue me, i'm shallow :p

anyway, with this potential noise problem I was hoping I could get some suggestions or advice if im going in the right direction on this one since I mod computers very few and far between; I usually stick with what I've got till I get a spending urge for a new system

anyway, these are the parts I have in my current plans.
a Zalman CNPS9500 HS/Fan and an Ultra X-Finity 500w PSU

should i stick with stock fans or get something else? are there any other things I need or better products I should aim for?

its a home theater PC so I really dont want something noisier than my xbox360 (lol)

I dont think the Ultra is the best choice for PSU. Id get a Seasonic or Enermax (im not sure which is quieter), but those are much higher quality PSU's. The Zalman CNPS9500 is definitely a good choice for quiet cooling, but 500W is typically more than needed in a HTPC. Lian-Li Stock fans are usually quite good noise-wise, especially if you get a fan controller to lower their speed a bit.

well though it is an HTPC, its also a gaming PC and will be using a crossfire or SLI config in the future so I dont want to be under-juiced (ive done it before and its a pain)

ill look into seasonic or enermax. my current PSU is an enermax.
any specific models I should get?

OCZ GamerXtreme 600 or 700 watt; they are reliable, quiet and can power any rig out their (unless its a cray super computer, but then u practically need your own power station). For something a little cheaper, I'd look at the E-Power Tagan series (mine is COMPLETLEY SILENT).

if your going crossfire/SLI 500W may not be enough, so definitely avoid the Ultra. Theres tons of threads on PSU's on the forum, but I have heard good things about the OCZ 600/700W PSU's. Im sure other people can step in and offer better choices. Crossifre rigs can dominate any PSU under 600W's though, and even PSU's rated higher from unreliable companies.

if i'm going to need 600-700w for a crossfire config, what would i need for a non-crossfire config? i figured i'd be safe with 500w...
