Right now I have this system, and am interested to find out how it will hold up in the years to come, appreciate your comments!

Intel Core2 Quad Q9400
Winfast Leadtek PX9800 GTX+
3GB RAM

I'm unsure as to what my motherboard is, as my desktop is outside my room and i dont want to wake people up to check

any comments are appreciated! thanks fellas

Depends on your resolution. That card is also known as a GT250, so you can look at various recent benchmarks to get an idea of your expected frame rates even if a 9800 is not part of the lineup. Older games will fly on 1680x1050 or lower resolution, newer games will require you to turn down settings a bit. 1920x1200 with FSAA is going to be mostly slow-and-go.

Your CPU won't be a problem at all.

hmm, because i have a 17" monitor im going to run most games mostly at 1280x1024 res, say for example Call of Duty MW2 with graphics maxed out, could it run smoothly? I just tried playing dragon age with 4xAA all settings maxed at 1280 and it seemed rather smooth. I have been looking around the net for benchmarks but would just like some of your opinions, seeing as most of you are tech gurus!

yeah, heh my 17" monitor is reeaaaaaaall old its actually yellowing haha
just a little bit concerned about my video card 🙁

That machine will last you quite a while including the graphics card as long as you intend to run at only 1280x1024. Even Crysis is easy to run at that resolution with that card. You're good to go.
