Hello, i was wondering how a Radeon HD 7950 will run with a A10-5800K cpu (not using the integrated graphics)? I want to run 1080p and will be playing valve games, a bit of battlefield on medium-high graphics settings, maybe a bit of arma and crysis, skyrim etc... Also i was wondering if this would bottleneck my computer.

It would be a huge bottleneck in CPU limited games. I have a A10-6800K @4.8GHz w/ HD 7870 and it bottlenecks pretty badly in most games (Crysis 3, BF3 MP, Far Cry 3, Tomb Raider etc.)
I wouldn't pair it with anything higher than a stock 7870.

I am not 100% sure how well a Phenom II matches clock for clock against an A10. But with my 965BE at 4.1GHz, and my 7950 at 1100, the majority of games run great. The only game I have been CPU bound in is dual threaded games (ie: Blizzard games) and BF3. But BF3 will nearly peg out a 4.5GHz 2500K on 64 player maps.

Yes, and i've been asking around and someone said the A10-5800K would bottleneck cpu demanding games (as did you) and he said to pair up a FX-6300. My budjet was 700 800 dollars but i had to up some parts (GPU and CPU) and thats all i can get within the price range since i changed from a 7770 and researched and decided to go with the 7950.

I would really suggest an i5 or 8320 but a OC'd 6300 would be fine and more than capable

Prices there should be similar I would think. But certainly shop around. You should be able to find a nice 7950 (MSI TF3 or similar) for a good price.

Thanks for the replies, and what motherboard would you recommend that is compatible with my cpu and gpu between $100-$120? The motherboard i had picked out isn't compatible with the FX 6300.

FX-6300 would bottleneck a 7950 as well. To avoid bottlenecking my 7950 @1.1GHz, I upgraded to 3770K from from i7-920 @ 3.36 which equals FX-6300 at ~4.1-4.2GHz. Went from 40fps to 60fps minimums in Alan Wake and BF3 MP, for example.

I would pair an FX-6300 with 7870 at most.

So, your i7 920 is equivalent to an FX 6300 oc'd to 4.2 and it runs bf3 mp at minimum settings at 60 fps or it runs at a minimum of 60 fps? Would this motherboard be compatible?

ASUS M5A99X Evo R2.0 ATX AM3+ DDR3 AMD 990X 3PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 1PCI USB3.0 SATA3 GBLAN Motherboard

An FX6300 will be fine. My mate has a FX6300 running at 4.3GHZ on a Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 with a Tahiti based HD7870XT(only slightly behind an HD7950 and based on the same core),which is also overclocked. It is fine with all the games he has run on it including Crysis 3 and Skyrim.

He is limited by his motherboard lacking LLC,so I would go with the Asus M5A97 EVO instead.

Yeah, but the 6300 to 8350 doesnt require new motherboard.
