I highly doubt Dell will run Conroe deals soon. They will be even more interested in moving their P4 stock once Conroe debuts.

Lets reasonably deduce this...A 930 would get beat buy a 3800+ X2 or 2ghz A64....

Dell doesn't sell A64's now do they? And the A64 combo still costs $150 more. AAand the 3800+ is only faster than the 930 in games - everything else is pretty much equal.
Bearing THAT in mind, the performance difference is appearing to be quite minimal, and I should probably jump on an amazing offer if it comes my way - which it has.
$375 Canadian for a 5150 with 19" LCD is nothing to sneeze at, though at that price it's only the 820 processor. (I earned a nifty Dell coupon worth $400 and found a nice Dell.ca deal. The two deals make for a very tempting offer and I need a new PC badly!!)

Funny how you ignore the benches where the 930 BEATS the 3800+, but there aren't many.
(and yes, I'm reading the graphs right - lower/higher = better, etc.) And a lot of the benches are far LESS than 10% difference. Only a few are significant in change.
And it's a moot point unless you're gonna' ship me one in the mail, au gratis. (No, no cheese.)
For this application it's Dell ONLY. So forget the 3800+... it's not happening. And for the steal I'm getting it for, the 930 processor does pretty darned well for a LOT less money than a comparable 3800+ setup (if it were possible, which it is not.)
I know what you think of Tom's hardware, but the CPU comparison utility put the 930 and 3800+ just about equal in everything but games. Some games were better, most were slower. Considering the price break I'm getting - I CAN LIVE WITH THAT.

I can get a great deal on a Dell machine with a 930 processor NOW (and I need it - badly!) or I could hold out another 3+ weeks until Dell brings out new Conroe PC's.... possibly longer to Canada.
Will the difference be that noticable?

If Conroe is 20% faster per clock than an X2 then the E6300 could be considered the equivalent of a ~2.2GHz X2 (a bit more but close enough). Since the 930 IS ~10% slower than an X2 3800+, and the Conroe E6300 is about 10% faster than this last one, then the E6300 is about 20% (ok, 21%!) faster than a 930... Sounds pretty logical to me, though I think he was a bit conservative in his calculations, I'd say 20-30% rather than 15-20%.
