how / where to throw away old crt monitor

Got a couple of broken 20" crt monitor that I need to throw away. Just curious how does everyone here dispose of their old crt monitor ?

threw an old 17" CRT at local solids waste center. they have program for "technology waste" ie computer parts, etc.

I live in a fairly small town, there is an independent shop that takes computer/tech waste for free then recycles it. Dumped a couple monitors there.

Ask at the dump if they have a special section, or ask some computer stores where they send theirs.
