I originally planned on using my reward points at the Hyatt for free nights but Hyatt has no presence in Las Vegas on the strip. I am going to vegas this upcoming weekend so I need to find something soon. I am looking for something on the strip that isn't too expensive.

Have you looked at the south end of the strip? MGM, Excalibur, Luxor, etc are a bit older and not as nice (at least compared to the Plazzo, even the cheaper Bellagio rooms are starting to feel older) but are usually cheaper than the mid strip. I usually stay downtown, at the Four Queens or Plaza and just take the Duece when I want to get to the strip.

What is your definition of cheap?

There dirt cheap places on the strip.

There are cheap places on the strip.

And for the price there are 5 star hotels that are cheap depending on time of year.

Bellagio is in the process of renovating its main tower(the Bellagio Tower). They have completed 500 rooms as of August and expect to have most of the standard king and queen rooms done by the end of the year. The new rooms are a lot nicer than the old and they are finally updating their ancient TVs.

Oh I see why you are asking about cheap places. Its 11/11/11 and there is a shit ton of stuff going on in Las Vegas so the prices are at weekend rack rates. NYNY is wanting $250/night(normally most weekends its $40-60). Shit at the moment I can book NYE for cheaper.

Bills Gamblin' Hall is already sold out. Ballys/IP/Exalibur/Flamingo are all asking $200+ per night for Friday/Saturday. The nicer places are $350-450/night for standard rooms. It looks like you picked the wrong weekend to go if you want cheap. Or you could always change your trip to start on Sunday.

Check the Twitter feeds of the various hotels - they often have deals that are otherwise unpublished/unadvertised.

Fri/Sat are the most expensive;no matter where you chose to stay.

The local casinos and downtown will be cheaper than on the strip.
Some packages may save you a few $$

This.

The "cheapest" nights are Sunday through Wednesday when its pretty easy to find inexpensive accommodations on the strip. By Sunday afternoon most people are in their cars driving back to LA.
