How were we eligible for an upgrade already with Sprint?

We signed up as new service late last year in the Fall. My wife got a new Curve for 50 bucks as an upgrade and was told we were eligible as of April 1, and that I have an upgrade available on my line(saving for the Evo or Win 7 phone!). Is it because we are on the employee referral family unlimited everything plan?

Sprint Premiere maybe?

SP on gives a yearly upgrade on the main line on the account, the rest are 22 months.

You need to clarify what kind of upgrade you are eligible for. If you are on a family unlimited plan it is Premier which would get you yearly upgrades on the main line. The other line is also elligible for an upgrade after twelve months but it's not a full upgrade. You get a whopping $75 off the retail price, not much of an upgrade huh?

From my Sprint Premier account:
Early phone upgrade

Every 12 months you're eligible for new customer pricing when you upgrade your primary phone--that's 10 months earlier than our standard upgrade offer (requires a 2-year service agreement). It's our way of thanking you for choosing us and to keep you connected with the latest phones around.

We'll also waive the $18 upgrade fee. Plus, get free shipping and activation when you upgrade online.

See when you're eligible on the My Account tab under the About my devices section.

Does anyone have Sprint Premier with the 59.99 Employee Referral program? It says you need to have an individual plan costing 69.99 for 3 months, but I wasn't sure if they counted tax or maybe let it slip for some reason. If not I'm thinking the extra $10 a month might be worth it to get the yearly upgrades.
