How well would this PC run?

Processor- I5 - 2500k 3.3 quad core

Graphics card - GTX - 650

8 GB Ram DDR3

500 GB hard drive

I'm trying to decide on parts to build a computer. I cannot go any higher, this is already pushing the budget a little! I want a computer to play games at medium settings at 30+fps. Would this do the job? Also, what motherboard should I get? I want one that can upgrade to 16 GB. When i find the parts that I want I will tell my "guy" and he'll buy and assemble the computer for me. He will decide for me the components that I don't specify. Should I specify any other components? As I said my budget isn't very good so no LED lights or cool gaming cases! What is your opinion? Sorry for any bad english!:)

It's alright. GTX 650 is a fairly low end gaming video card though, so I would not expect much more than medium settings from it, depending on the resolution.

As far as the motherboard goes, you want to get a P67, Z68, or z77 motherboard because they will allow you to overclock your CPU with the unlocked multiplier (easy mode).

Are there any other graphics car alternatives that would fit your budget?

If I were you I would cut back on the price of the CPU and put more into the GPU. Its not universally a good idea but you'll get more out of spending a bit more on graphics. Don't worry about going down to an i3 processor they are a lot cheaper and right now really good value for gamers because most games don't use more than 2 cores very well.

We've already had a discussion on this site on the value of buying just to replace components in the future. Believe me on this, if the information about the Haswell refresh is true, people will crap their pants. Why not buy an adequate CPU when you'll have to replace the motherboard and potentially the RAM as well if you want to upgrade later. I think it's way better to buy a good-enough CPU now, then replace the video card later. Besides, the CPU increases lately have been a little underwhelming. Video card gains seem to be more impressive.

I'm OK with the low-cost setup although I'm not sure if there's a huge price difference between the 500GB hard drives and the 1TB.

There's no point for me getting a 1TB space wise. The computer I have today is 500GB and I use like half of that. Plus, my family has a 500GB external drive that only I use. How much do you think that would affect the PC performancy wise? Keep in mind that I live in Brasil so for me the difference between 1TB isn't like 50 buck it's 200 Reais. :p

I'm not bothered with medium settings. That would be just fine. Are you reffering to what types of games? Do you think this system could run games like BF4 or titanfall (titan might be pushing a little, I know!) on a steady 30FPS with medium settings? Or even on low? I acctually play lighter games like G-mod, portal, minecraft, etc... So low end graphics card I think would be fine :p
