What resolution? You would probably do alright on a 1440X900. Valve recommends a dual core 4200+... but I have no idea how much you gain from the second core with this game.

I have a 19" flat screen.

What resolution do you think would be optimal for graphics and viewing with my setup?

I'm thinking 1024x768 would be a good resolution.

until they fix the servers, you'll still shutter even if you had quadfire.

Believe me, im waiting for a server fix like they did on the Xbox.

As of this moment 95% of the coop multi player servers you play on will experience some shutter lag.

I would do 1280x960. I played the L4D2 demo on an Opteron 146 @ 2.6 and an 1800xt at 1680x1050. Ran pretty good with no aa and af. :)

I played L4D2 demo on X2 3800 with 8800GT and 2Gb of RAM and I thought it played very well. I was running 1900x1200 resolution.

YES. I seriously hate threads with people asking about how a game will run on their system when there are DEMO's AVAILABLE.

problem is..

The single player in the game works flawless.
No lag no shutter, everything max'd out... works flawlessly.

The moment you got on a server.. Oh man.. shutters... lags..
Valve needs to fix the servers b4 you buy this game.

Single player is only fun for a while, its the coop that makes this game rock.
And right now me as well as a lot of my friends are having a hell of a time using a dedicated server.

We have to use local server to fix that issue. But then we get ping lag if too many people are on 1 connection.

However, this has nothing to do with his computer, which is what this topic is about.

I tried L4D2 on:

A64 3000+
1.5GB
6800GS PCIe @ 1680x1050 all low settings

And it was close to unplayable. So I guess the OP's setup will run it somewhat better but don't expect smooth as butter framerates especially on a single-core CPU.

What's shutter lag?

I get good framerates but have a good gaming rig, it is one of the less demanding game to run that i play though, i get over 100fps even with 8xMSAA and 16xAF at 1080p highest settings. I would think on low settings no AA it would not be a problem.

Also i just started playing it a few days ago and have put in 20 hours plus and have not noticed any lag at all so i dont know what this stutter lag they are talking about is.

If that was possible I would.

No lag noticeable here. I've only been playing mp campaigns tho. Is this 'stutter lag/slag' confined only to vs or just multiplayer in general?

I think aigomorla's CPU is too fast for this game.

I've experienced zero issues w/ L4D2 in multiplayer, other than when ping is bad.
