How well will a MSi GTX 660ti run BF4?

Last night I was playing BF3 and someone in the server brought up video cards and BF4. I asked how well they thought a GTX 660ti with 2GB of VRAM would run BF4. They said after some graphics tweaking I will probably get good frame rate. Now I'm averaging around 60+ fps on all high settings in BF3. Will I get this in BF4? I want to run everything on high settings and get around the same frame rate I have now. I'm running a 1080p monitor and have an i5 3570K processor if it helps. Thanks for any input you have!

I know, I'm just asking for other's predictions/opinions.

i tested alpha ... sorry pre alpha on my 660 (non TI ) ....

so well .. i think to get 60 + Fps you need at least 770 or even 780 .....

Game has only minor improvement in graphic .... so it will be like 25-40% more demanding as i predict ....

What fps were you getting and what graphics settings were you using?

Ultra no MSAA .... no MSAA on it was laggy .... i mean under 30 fps .... With ultra NO AA i had like 40-60 FPS .. i Think AA lagged cause of Meomry bandwidth 144 GT/S .. so i think you will need at leas 192 Gt/S or even 224Gt/s like 680/770 have ..... no sure that 2GB vram will bottleneck .. but if you upgrade , better buy 3/4 GB card :)

Did you turn off some of the other features that are normally on? Such as motion blur and ambient occlusion? For me (In BF3) these are some of the biggest hits to FPS.

My thoughts are that if you card ran BF3 very well, you should be fine for BF4. The big hit will be CPU usage. I am pretty sure I am going to need a better CPU for 64 player games. BF3 kept mine pretty pegged.

motion blur fps hit ? hm ... it's terrible for online to detect enemy but it does not hit that much fps as i know .... HBAO another story ..... it took like 10-15 fps .... like MSAA ...

A lot of textures are missing from the alpha build from leaks I have seen. Probablyblose a few fps there also. Bf3 ran beautifully for how it looked though so hopefully it won't be too bad.

So if I find that I do need to upgrade (fingers crossed I don't) would you recommend the 770? Could you link to one you recommend?

I'm seeing about 20% less frames in the alpha and this is with incomplete texturing in the game. It's hard to say though because bf3 performance varies a lot depending on the map and what is happening on your screen action wise, will hold true for bf4.

My guess is about 20% less on performance across all setups once the game is launched and drivers are optimized. It's not much different looking than bf3, but seems to like CPU even more than bf3.

well maybe even 20% less and not 25-40% like i said ... you are more accurate ...

so OP you can also go for 680 and just OC it ... it will be like 770 .... go for cheaper 680 or 770 does not matter really .... 780 is another story ...

What about GTX660s in SLI? You'll still have the Vram problem but the horsepower should be there.

It's an alpha so I'm sure there will be performance improvements compared to the release/patched release versions.

In my experience motion blur is 3-5fps at 1080P on my 7950.

ah well .. 3-5 fps im agree but not a 10-15 like HBAO .... and also mesh quality takes a lot of fps on maps with a lot of bouldings ...

660 TI 's in sli can work to and even better then go for 770 i think ... heaper solution but you will have to deal with Micro stuttering

Absolutely don't upgrade now for bf4, wait until its about to be released. Prices will drop and there can be new cards by then.

Of course if you are upgrading now anyways it pays to consider bf4.

i like EVGA

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-S...s=evga+gtx+770

don't think that 2 GB vram will be problem ... but if it will then go for 4 GB version ..... Also MSI and Gygabite are good brands ;)

http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GDDR5...ds=msi+gtx+770

http://www.amazon.com/MSI-DisplayPor...ds=msi+gtx+770

Both EVGA the Gigabyte look good, I'll bookmark them for later. Another question I have is how much of a performance difference is one 770 from two 660ti's (this is what people mean when they're talking about SLI, right?). Which should I go for?

BF4 is not out until the end of October. You can be pretty sure every card you're considering will be cheaper by then. You'll also get a chance to see how your system performs in the beta when it is released and go from there.

I wouldn't buy anything today if all you are concerned with is BF4.

That's been my plan, just doing some research and opinions to see what I can expect. Thanks.

Well we are on the same boat .. i want to play BF4 at Max settings to ... but better wait till end of October or November when game comes out ....

I personally will wait for premium edition of BF4 and don't overpay 120$ for that game as i did with BF3 :)

2 660 TI is like GTX Titan .. so vs GTX 770 that will be like 20-25% difference
