They're kinda second-stringers. I wouldn't assume the board would suck.

Then again, I have an AsRock, so I'm clearly asking for trouble. D:

They are very variable.
Some models are very good, some are quite bad.

An the AMD side, the TA970XE (970 chipset, AM3+) is a fantastic board, and probably the best performing 970 chipset board. The A85W-HiFi (A85x, FM2) is another lovely board.

On the other hand, the A960G+, A780L and A880GZ are mediocre at best, but then, they are their cheaper boards.

Don't have one, but it might be the case their more expensive boards are good while their cheaper ones are more prone to the phrase, YMMV(your milage may vary).

Their mid-range and higher-end boards are nice. I'm used a whole bunch of them over the years without issues (TF7025-M2, TA870+, A870U3, TA880GB+, TZ77XE4, TZ77XE3, etc.)

Biostar motherboard is well, thank you.

I'm running a TZ77B with a Core i3 3220. It's held up for 3 days so far! :D

It's my first Biostar mobo. I like the double-digit LED display on the motherboard that shows various status codes during the boot process. Once booted it displays CPU temp in Celsius. :) I'm at 25°C.

I've only used one of their boards and it worked fine for me for about a year in a server I built, but then I started having issues. I swapped it out for a cheap AsRock just this weekend. So far, I'm pretty biased towards AsRock & Asus boards and prob won't stray from either brand in the near future.

But not an ECS or MSI. How's Jetway?

Jetway makes cool, odd boards with business chipsets, multiple Intel LANs and tons of legacy expansion options. They are also one of the "go-to" brands for DIY NAS building.

I just opened a thread where i ask how to raise fsb on the Biostar 880gz. Compared to other budged boards there are very limited options concerning overclocking. Asside of that i have nothing to complain about so far (one Week). I wondered why they put two PCI-Slots on it and not at least 1-PCIE x4 but this you can look up before buy. I bought it becouse of the HDMI output and low price.

Biostar is a value brand. They do offer some high end solutions but mostly move product at the low end. That being said they have some decent boards and I've had good luck with them but they are not my first choice when it comes to motherboards.

I am more of a ASUS/ROG fan. The overall build quality on some of the better Biostar board arn't too shabby. I've built both AMD & Intel Biostar motherboard and they have been very stable with no issues. I couldn't wait for Haswell, so i purchased this board listed in my sig below. I OC'd my 3570k from stock to 4.5 with ease, no issues what so ever using T-Overclocker software app. The board cost me only 80 bucks and I am really happy with performance and features. I was willing to take the risk for only $80.00

I have a Biostar board. Overall it is good but misses the little things. For example, the BIOS descriptions and manual have terrible explanations that were clearly poor translations. Also, my Hyper 212+ isn't using its backplate because resistors on the back of the socket stop it from sitting flush (that being said, it is an older LGA 1156 board from right when tower coolers were new).

Only owned one.

It refused to read my 1866 DDR3 Memory at those speeds, where my Current MSI board does just fine with the same kit.

Worked fine other than that with Mild OC.
