I'm just wondering because radar detectors are illegal in most of canada and parts of united states. But then there's all these detectors with the VG-2 technology that makes them 'virtually' undetectable. But nobody clarify's how well they actually work. I mean, what does these manufacturers see 'virtually' as? does that means they'll detect you 0.001% of the time, or 20% of the time?

while I'm in the topic, I'm considering a bel-tronics... they have so many models and I just want one that works!! None of those stupid super disco lighting effects or talks back to you kind of crap. One that detects, tells me, and done!! so which model would I be looking for?

Valentine One.

This is the only unit you should be considering. Everybody elses models are pretty bad in comparison. If you do a search on the Road & Track (or was it Car & Driver?) website, you should be able to find the comparision.

A relative of mine has one, and it works GREAT.

If I could get a good deal on a V1, then sure... but $400USD is a little steep right now.
I've seen some other reviews rate escort and beltronics systems very well but at nearly 1/2 the price. I'm not very big on speed but having a high powered vehicle does tempt me to stretch out her legs once in a while. I never considered a detector before, but after being nabbed on one of my 30second bursts (dumb luck), I'm quickly realizing the insurance that a detector can provide me just in case insanity kicks in again.
