Getting a new laptop soon and just wanted to know how well the 9800m GTS 512mb is? I mean, it only has 64 shader cores and a "lower" GPU speed...but could I expect to play some newer games well? Laptop has a Intel P8400 CPU...would this bottleneck it at all?
I see that the desktop 8600 GTS has 32 shader cores...and only a 128-bit bus...so would it be safe to say that a 9800m GTS would be more or less 2x faster considering it has 64 cores and 256-bit bus?
I mean, Im not expecting Crysis to run maxed out or anything...but I would still like to play some modern games on it, even if it means a CPU upgrade. Also, I see this can be overclocked pretty decently with little heat rise...how well does overclocking a mobile GPU help it in speed? The laptop will mostly be non-mobile and on a cooling tray, so heat shouldnt be a problem.
