How well does a laptop + MS Street & Trips + GPS dongle work?

I also own S&T 2006 and a notebook, ive been contemplating getting the GPS for the usb port as well, i'm bumping this because id like to know as well, great question.
 
I have a setup like this, you will also need to get an power inverter for unlimited power. it works out really well for me.

MS S&T 06 doesn't offer 3d isometric view tho.
