How well do wireless headphones work?

I am thinking of getting some wireless headphones. I want to be able to listen to my stereo at night and not wake up others that are sleeping nearby. Rather then strech wires or rearrange the room, I am considering going wireless. But i am wondering if they are actually up to par with the wired headphones. I would be using them as I said to listen to music, MP3's, FM radio, XM radio, and CD's, they would also be used as my computer speakers, for gaming and whatever else. Obviously though if they don't perform well or have other big problems, then it may not be worth it for me. SO if you know anything about them, let me know about it. Also if you have any recommendations on which ones to look at let me know that too.

Also I kind aprefer the around the ear style rather then on the ear.

if you get RF wireless headphones..2.4ghz, then they sound pretty good and have decent range

Any recommendations on models? I am willing to spend 100.00-200.00 but preferablly the low end is better.

I got a pair of RCA (I believe) wireless headphones from Radio Shack for $70 a few years ago. They worked well, although they were a bit bulky. I would imagine whatever RCA makes at that price point now would be just as good, probably smaller too.

I used some for a day, then I took them back.

They were big, bulky and heavy and constantly had a hissing noise in the background since it's wireless.

Then again, I'm sure it varies by model.

If you have a Brookstone in the mall buy them from there, I have mine from 5 years ago and they still work great. Nothing like going outside walking the dog and not missing a thing on the TV.

quality is generally degraded slightly. i don't know of a headphone that digitally sends full bandwith audio which would be the holy grail of wireless headphones.

Not sure I understood all of that, but one model I just happened to find in a search was the Amphony 2.4GHz model 1000. I know this unit says it brocasts a digital signal at 3Mbps. I'm not sure if that is full bandwidth, but it stated in a review that 44.1khz audio transmits at 1.5 Mbps.

The transmitter contains an A-D converter and sends the audio uncompressed, with error correction at a rate of 3Mbit/S. (44.1KHz stereo audio has a data rate of 1.4Mbit/S).

Not sure exactly what that means, but they make it sound good at it seems to get good reviews for just a little over 125.00

anyone had experience with these kind of headphones, $20 is hard to beat. I'm a little concerned about IR for a constant stream of data though.
