How well do those Atomic watches work?

Hey guys... I was just wondering if anyone had any experience, either first hand or anecdotal, with atomic watches? I know how they work in theory, but just wondering if they're actually okay in practice. I'm looking to get maybe a Nexxtech brand watch. Probably not a brand anyone's heard of, but I'm not going to get a name brand because chances are I'll lose the watch before it fails.

I have an alarm clock that supposedly synchronizes with the Atomic Clock. 90% of the time it doesn't get a signal in this apartment. Dunno how well a watch would work.

So how they work is they function like a normal watch, but syncronize every once in a while via radio with an atomic watch somewhere, right?

edit: n/m - i was thinking atomic clocks for some reason.

edit2: if you are talking about the clocks - and not watches - mine syncs up perfectly fine - got it from costco.

Correct. Though the quartz movement is usually not that great because it relies on synching every so often and they don't think it's as important to have a really precise movement since it'sll fix any errors when it synchs.

At least, that's my experience with my alarm clock. I have a cheap winding watch (new) an old Longines (expensive winding watch) and a 90+ year old pocketwatch. All three keep better time than the alarm clock.

Thanks for the input... haha, I decided there's no point to it and just got another normal watch.

I have the casio g-shock solar atomic watch. It updates the time every night around 2am. It's worth it i think.
