planning to get Griffin ITrip auto universal

i live in NYC and would like to know how good the FM transmitter signals are in the city.

does anyone have any experience? what station do you use?

or does it depend on how good the product is; in this case, the Griffin ITrip Auto Universal

Dunno about NYC, but one I tried (non a Griffin) was useless in Toronto. Too many stations.

IIRC, FM transmitters work pretty terribly in the city. It is difficult to find a "dead spot" on the FM band.

i have a belkin it worked great in columbus ohio. But back in my car in a small town in florida, it works like shit. It also depends on your antenna in your car.

Solution, got a hot deal on a receiver with usb and audio in. $50.

I would save your $10, especially if you dont have any free bands.

In the Metro Boston area, 90% of the FM Transmitters my friends and I have tried have been awful. I'd imagine it would be worse in NYC. My friend says he has one that works (its a Griffin) but it costs $80 or something ridiculous.

I live in NJ, and tried the itrip twice. The first one was so bad, I thought it was broken. The second one Amazon sent was just as bad, so it too went back. I then got a tape adapter, and was much happier. If you have a tape player, you should do the same.

Well, since you have no other options, you might as well give it a shot. Yours is a different model than the one I had. This is the one I tried, which was about 7 times more than what you paid.
