How well can I run Oblivion with this?

Id imagine it would run fine on that system, with a couple of settings turned down. Heck, i got it running ok on my Centrino 2.0Ghz laptop with a 9700 graphics card.

Runs great on my P4 2.8 GHz Northwood, 1 GB RAM, and X800 XL. Most settings are on high with the exception of shadows and grass distance. I turned those down to help improve performance. It does hitch a bit when going into a new loading area, but then clears up a runs smooth. Oblivion has a a memory leak issue (like Morrowind) and will cause some slowdowns after several hours of play. Several people are getting CTD while playing, but I've only had it crash a few times on mine while exiting the game.

This game has some performance issues and is buggy, but it's very scalable and will run decent if your system isn't running a lot of stuff in the background. Remember to defrag your hard drive after installing this monster of a game.

With 2 gigs of ram, try turning the tree distance to max and either grass to max, or off. So long as your graphics card can cope with it (which it should) , itl'l stop any stuttering in the game while moving in the forest areas (especially on horse) as the game constantly tried to load whats ahead of you, instead itll be loaded in one big chunk.

This was a big performance boost on my machine, it was very choppy until i did this! (even though the framerate was high).

Should do pretty well if you don't need really high resolution. I'm running it on a P4 2.8 Northwood, 2GB, X800XT PE and it's very playable at 1152x864 with most settings cranked up. It was playable at my LCDs native res of 1600x1200 if I turned down a lot of things, but I found it more enjoyable at 1152 with more details.

Yeah, you should be good...my 2.4C @ 3.2, 1gb, and 6800nu unlocked/OCed does fine with the game at 1680x1050 with no AA and HDR

slowdowns with intense action but its playable and I have gotten addicted

I've got a P4C 2.6 @ 3.2 (is "C" Northwood? Can't remember) with 1 gig memory and a 6800GS unlocked (400/1100 rates) and running at 1024x768 everything max with HDR on (so no AA) and it's playable. It can be choppy outside, probably 20-25fps but it's playable for an RPG. Inside feels like 100+ fps. With HDR off FPS goes way up but I like the look.
