mind you i'm an assistant to a developer here in town, right now i've been his eyes and ears on his personal lake home he is building here in the northern mn lakes area.
got to the site around 7 am (maybe a bit before...) went around opening the main doors as i usually do only to find that someone tried to close a door with a 3 point lock without turning it closed, then closing it (that is the way these temp doors are). so the center of the door was latched while the top and bottom are jammed into the jam
... the door itself was tweaked about 1 3/4'' to 2". i had to order a new jam and lock because of someone (guessing the drywallers since they work early early am and late late pm)
the contractors assistant showed up at 8 as usual, call him C, as we are going over the daily tasks, the truck driver from the granite mine in canada (not exactly sure where, i want to say onyx marbel in toronto, but i could be mistaken) it dosen't help that he is a french canadian arab, i kid you not. turns out he dropped the firestone that was to be used for the fireplace (starting work on it the end of this week) at another stop he made on the way down. 8 pallets of brick at some job in god knows where canada, and i need it by thursday morning at the latest.
the flooring guys were late (11ish) and all they did was complain that the floor had not been prepped, so they could just lay their durock down and mud that without having to mess around much. i told them it was their responsibility to clean the floor prior to laying the durock (cement backer board/subfloor) and that they knew that... they complained more and finally started to scrape and pull staples... 1145 they left for lunch! wtf. at this point i was sort of getting irritated... the drywallers didn't help much by making fun of the tile guys all afternoon
note: the drywallers are a bunch of out of college kids (well 25+) that run their own company, the tile guys are young to, mid 30's id guess... they come in their kakies and tucked in shirts with geled up hair... all i heard all afternoon was "look who finally showed up! the pretty boys" ect.. it was funny for a while
around 1-115ish the heating crew showed up to lay piping for the heated floors (starting on the 2nd floor first... because it's the only one that is totally done, atleast walls/flooring wise) now we've got 20 lines running from the back of their truck, which is parked right at the front door, running down the hall, up the steps and all over the place, needless to say they were kinda in the way.
3ish i was talking on the phone with my boss when the MN DNR rolls up. the first thing they tell me is that they are going to put a seise and sist order up unless i can explain why there is a dredger sitting on the beach and all the bull rushes and lil pads are missing. i honestly didn't have an answer for them, so i gave the phone to them... 10 min later they gave me the phone back, said thank you and left... i sat there the entire time with a confused look.
i left after that. i needed to drive back to town, drop off one of our skid steers and pick up the other two. service reasons.
fun fun, i'll probably end up dealing with the same sort of thing tomorrow
how about you guys?
