How Was Your Christmas

Here is how mine went.

December 23 at about 3:00pm I get called out of my boss?s office to take a frantic phone call from my wife. While changing the garbage bag in her home office, her long hair finds its way into the automatic paper shredder. The paper shredder climbs its way up her hair until it is clamped tight to her head and she is now hysterical thinking she is going to be bald on one side. I dash home and along with some help from a friend we pry apart the shredder and free her hair. Very little damage done and all is well. So we head out to dinner with the family.

Next morning, we get a call from the Mother-in-law, my wife?s sister who had a baby three weeks ago started haemorrhaging in the middle of the night and is now in the hospital undergoing her second operation in six hours to try to stop the bleeding. Her husband is losing it and they need someone to look after their two kids, a three year old and a three week old. We volunteer and begin the process of buying formula, bottles, etc for the three week old who has not yet been weaned from breast milk. Bags of fun on Christmas Eve day! The doctors finally get the bleeding under control and my brother-in-law reclaims the kids.

Christmas day we host a smaller than planned, quieter than planned dinner and say a prayer for my sister-in-law who is still in the hospital recovering.

That brings us to December 27. My sister-in-law is released from the hospital at about 2:00 in the afternoon and I drop by to say hello and drop off the food I prepared for their dinner. She is very weak but happy to be home.

Back home it is time for our dinner, but my son, who has had a slight cold suddenly, goes into a full blown asthma attack. None of the medications that we have are helping, so we rush him into emergency at 6:00pm. The room is full, and he is not sick enough to get moved to the front of the line so we wait for over three hours before anyone even looks at him. While we are waiting, an ambulance pulls up, and my sister-in-law is loaded out. She has started bleeding again and they are going to have to open her up again (they should just install a zipper).

My son is finally released at 1:30am with a diagnosis of bronchitis and severe asthma attack, and we don?t have any update on my sister in law yet.

Cliffs:

Wife has unfortunate run-in with a paper shredder
Sister-in-law in danger of bleeding to death after childbirth
Son has bronchitis and serious asthma attack
WORST CHRISTMAS EVER!

Jesus dude.. That's brutal. Best of luck for you after this crappy holiday season!!!!!

Glad all is not-the-worst-it-could-be right now though!

That sounds about like a normal Christmas in my house 🙁 except im the one getting bronchitis and being stuck in the emergency room.
