so it's an article about Energy Transition, the peaking and subsequent decline of crude oil production.

but, forget that, check out the image.

can any of you tell from looking at an image, how it was generated ?

i have very little Maya and Softimage experience. i wonder if the little black spheres on the end of a cylindrical element, are a signature of one program.

anyway, i thought it was kind of a cool image.

I have no clue what was used to create this image, but I think it's great and really wish I could create things like this!

well heck, you can.

Autodesk has bought Maya -
they already had 3D Max; the free Max tutorials
they were giving out in 2005 were fantastic, very
comprehensive. their demo downloads are full-
function with a 30 day time-frame.

the sphere in the center of the picture has an
image mapped on it.

plus, with that Q6600 you got, my God, that's
the right processor.

I've been working with 3DS max for a good time now. I haven't tried Maya because imo max is better for the things I do but I've heard Maya is pretty good as well, especially for particle effects, dynamics etc.. So my second suggestion would be Maya, the first one being Photoshop 🙂
