How useless is this degree?

Ok so i started college off has a CS major. Not a huge fan of programming so I switched to Business as my dad is in that feild and I always found it a bit interesting. Well through the years my school has screwed me over schedule wise a few times, I studied abroad, and so forth. I was an accounting major but if I wanted to finish it it would take me a extra year. If I switch to Management I graduate with one online class during the fall semester. I've taken a bunch of Econ, Accounting, and Finance courses so I feel I am pretty well rounded in all the areas. I have a good internship this summer in a finance/accounting position but I was wondering how bad a managment degree looked.

After 4 years of college I really just want to get out. i don't like where its located and I want to travel and move to a new location....which I can't do at college.

Forgot to mention that I go to a state school so its not that amazing of a school but my GPA is a 3.7 and I've worked through most of it with some extra activies so that should help.

pretty worthless w/o experience, but that may vary greatly depending where you live (dumbfuck USA vs any metropolitan city with a respectable school). u might as well get either the finance degree (if you want to end your life) or finish up accounting (which will set you up for pretty much anything business)

Just finish the accounting. The job applicantions you don't care how many econ, accounting, finance courses you have done if your degree is from Management.

The internship will look very good on your CV though.

I say just stick it out and finish the Accounts degree.

it really depends

i have a Human Resource Management degree and I have a good IT/computer guy job

your career/life will be what you make of it

i recommend you get done with school and start working on the career part and not worry about what the degree is in

you can always get a masters later in something if it will help your career to be able to "document" your knowledge of a different area/field

Stick with the accounting degree. Just be prepared to continue going to school to meet additional requirements to sit for the CPA exam, depending on which state you live in.

That's funny. I have a Computer Science degree, but I'm an HR Manager.

another vote for getting your accounting degree. have fun staying in school to get the 150 credit hour requirement needed for the CPA exam.

Doesn't matter. An accounting degree will open so many doors outside of accounting. Just get your degree, then worry about what you want to do. You can do just about anything with that degree.

I have a Management Degree and am happy.

EDIT: Though I had over 4 years of experience after graduating.

Why don't you take that online class, then get a double major in Accounting and Management?

I usually don't recommend double majors, but it seems you're pretty darn close.

Someone with an accounting degree but without a CPA is just a glorified bookkeeper.

Or your director, your VP, or your controller...

I would finish the accounting too. I have a friend with a management degree, couldn't find a job, he's now working retail in management which isn't so great.

I wouldn't worry about it.

You have a very good background on paper to go into the insurance field (miscellaneous E&O, Professional Services, Specialty, etc.). Lots of good job perks if you get into the right company, good pay, and good benefits.

Whatever you decide to do, get the Management degree since your only 1 class away from it. I think multiple degrees look great on a resume.

Yea, you're right. I wasn't even thinking upper management. I was speaking more on the staff level.

that's true of most staff level positions in business.

I would have a problem if my children (when I have some) decided to major in Marketing or Psychology.

Not marketing..Management.

Seems I could get a Econ Degree in this coming semester with 5 classes. I've always liked econ....but thats pretty useless as well. I believe our econ is a BA not a BS

How long after you graduate can you go back and take a few classes to finish a degree? Or go to another college and finish the few classes you have left. Or is it after a certain amount of time you have to start over.

Like lets say in two years I am looking for a new job and I think an finance or econ degree would help me get a job. Could i finish it quick then or is it too late.
