How to you pronounced 'snape'?

I am going to meet this guy with the said last name. I've heard a guy in my office call him "snappy" which I have a feeling is not correct Is it pronounced the same as "snake"?

It most likely is. I just wanted people to think about it for a second rather than blurt out the first thing that comes to their minds, i.e. the guy from the Harry Potter. I wasn't sure because people do pronounce names differently...i'm still not sure because of the non-serious responses.
