I just slipstreamed XP and SP1 and made it bootable. But I can't figure out how to put the product key on the CD so when prompted at install, it will already be filled in. I hate writing the key on the CD. :(

It's pretty easy.

Open notepad and put this in it.

;SetupMgrTag
[Data]
AutoPartition=0
MsDosInitiated="0"
UnattendedInstall="Yes"

[UserData]
ProductID=CD KEY HERE
FullName=""
OrgName=""
ComputerName=*

[Identification]
JoinWorkgroup=WORKGROUP

[Networking]
InstallDefaultComponents=Yes

[TapiLocation]

[Branding]
BrandIEUsingUnattended=Yes

[Proxy]
Proxy_Enable=0
Use_Same_Proxy=0

[GuiRunOnce]

Now save the filename to WINNT.SIF and put it into your i386 folder.

THANKS Budman! I just found the answer when you posted. You are right, it is VERY easy. I just didn't know what type of file I needed to create (*.txt or *.sif) and where to put it. Thanks again man for the super fast reply!

I think this is a great thread - some great information is contained within. Could you link me to the instructions for "slipstreaming" XP & SP1? I want to make an "ultimate" CD that will take care of these two installations in one sweep. Thanks! :)

You can do it too in Win2k but the file is a different filemame & the contents are different.

Here's a link on more info http://www.bink.nu/Bootcd/default.htm

But it doesnt always work for everybody.
