I am having trouble with my Windows XP installer on Dell 600m. I guess that is due to I terminated an automatic update process some time ago. Right now, it always shows there are latest updates for me (when auto update is not disabled), but whenever I click to install them, the installation process will simply freeze, and can't progress any more.
Similar problem also happens when I am trying to install some regular software, such as VPN, MS streets and trips, etc. The installation process simply hang up, and can't make any further progress at all.
I was trying to download and install Windows install 3.1 redistributable, but the installtion of this redistributable itself also halted forever after first several steps.
Could anyone give me some kind hints about how to fix it? Thanks a lot!
