You can play Hulu on the direct HD DVR. Not sure exactly which models support media share the model I have is HR22-100. Of course you need the network connected to the back of the receiver.

Next install Playon and the plugin pack.

Playon is here:

Plugin pack:

After install go through and set the option like you want them. The service runs in the background as a server for network devices like extenders.

Now with it all running, go to the menu on the DVR and select Music Photos & More.
Then navigate to your pc through the menus and you should see hulu listed along with all the others.

The directv page says it requires a intel vi processor, that is NOT true unless using their application.

Not free.
You are suppose pay to watch hulu, etc with the Pro version.

I don't know how well the pro works with the Directv dvr as the dvr is not working as an extender, but a shared media device, sort of like sharing hard drives. If someone wants to try it out and reply that would be great.

edit:

looking on the Tversity forums I think I'll stay with Playon for now. No config to mess with and it just works using next to no resources. Seems people are having issues with Tversity and the dvr.

Trying streaming local files and I got to say that if playon is transcoding the files, it has a seriously fast transcoder. Not even using 10% off one core, and only 64MB memory sending xvid to the DVR and the quality is perfect.

I just downloaded it, and didn't have to pay. Does the pro version timeout? I don't have time to try it though. It's almost time for idol.:p

It doesn't time out , but you are supposed to pay for it if you continue to use it.

This looks interesting. If playon works on a dlink extender then I may buy it after the trial ends. I'll let you guys know if it works right. Nothing works flawlessly out there right now as far as I can tell.

I just got an offer of $10 off for playon, good through the holiday, making the price $30.
