I dunno if this is a windows DVD, I actually didnt even know dvds were specific to windows. But when i insert office season 3 dvd 1, my vmware xp sees it perfectly but mac wont do anything with it? I found this guide to force it to mount but it didnt work http://www.dummies.com/WileyCD...-Your-Mac.id-1964.html

Does anyone know software or a method to make this thing mount?

Is your VM instance still running when you try to play the DVD? If so, VMware is likely grabbing the DVD drive. You can unmount it in setting for the VM.

Yeah, it's in the virtual machine settings.

Yea, I was about to reply with something snarky like... Put it in the drive?

lol... the sad thing is that is a valid response when dealing with an "average" user outside of AT.

hey anyone know how to enable hardware video decoding on 8800gt in mac? For like .mkv files and x264 hd video content

Well, if you run them through Quicktime, they should be a little bit. However, I have heard, strangely enough, that OS X doesn't support hardware level h264 decoding, either that or the drivers don't support it.

ok i noticed that it has troubles with h264 using vlc... but the file is .mkv

Well, most MKVs are encoded using the x264 codec which is an open source version of the h264 codec which is why i mentioned it. Between Quicktime and VLC I find VLC to be better with MKVs.
