How to wake closed-lid Mac up with external keyboard or mouse?

I'm using dual external monitors, external keyboard, and mouse. When my Mac sleeps, I have to open the lid then close in order to wake the Mac up.

How can I set it so that I can wake the Mac up by clicking on a key on the keyboard or mouse?

There is an app called InsomiaX that I use to stop the mac sleeping when you close the lid.

There are a few settings to tweak regarding battery, timing etc but it might help.

I use a similar setup except with only 1 monitor. Clicking a mouse button or tapping a key on the keyboard wakes up the Mac without any problems.

How are those dual monitors connected to the Mac? I have a feeling it is some sort of signaling issue.
