How to verify RAM is Registered ECC RAM?

Is there a way to tell whether an OEM RAM module (in my case an SDRAM module) is actually a registered ECC RAM module?

I received a RAM module which is supposed to be a 512MB PC133 Registered ECC SDRAM module.
It does not look like the lower module on this page:

Nor have I ever seen a registered DIMM which does not have (for lack of a better term) the extra register chips. The part number for the memory chips themselves I can find on google for both registered and plain unbuffered OEM SDRAM so I am fairly certain that the module is unbuffered.

Are there registered RAM modules made these days without the register chips? If so, how do you tell them (unmarked modules) apart?

Will a PC which normally takes plain SDRAM (ECC or non-ECC) choke on a registered ECC SDRAM module?

Is there a way (in Linux or Windows) to tell whether the memory module

I know that it is ECC RAM. Being registered memory or plain unbuffered memory however is the difference between my server running happily or not booting at all.
