How to use touchpad and mouse in Linux?

OK I am running SuSE 8 on my laptop and right now I am able to go into YAST and select either the intelli/Wheel mouse for either the aux-port or the USB port and that determines whether my touchpad or my USB mouse is selected, But I want to be able to use both mice (is that right past tense, hmmm) without going into this option and changing anything when I plug in my USB mouse any ideas on how to do this?

Its been a while since I have seen an xf86config file 🙂Q), but I think all you would have to do is as a pointer1 or something to the file. Not positive, but give it a try 🙂

The XFree86 site has some documentation on getting pointing devices to work (www.xfree86.org). They have some good example configurations as I remember, however if your hardware is a little different it can be pure agony finding a working config :-\ IIRC there were examples for mouse/touchpad combos.
