How to use this hard drive as a external hard drive ?

you cant use the ipod drive as a CF card, the ipod drive is a standard IDE form factor (smallest of the bunch).. the standards are 3.5 inch, 2.5 inch, and i THINK 1.4 inch (which is what the ipod and the macbook air use).
You can't just put a CF card in the ipod, you can buy an adapter that the CF card goes in, making it the size of a small HDD with the right type of connection to work as a HDD in an ipod.

To connect the iPod drive to a PC or something else externally you would have to buy some sort of adapter between the IDE (no a standard full sized ide) it uses and the computer (IDE or SATA)
