How to use the pivot function of an LCD monitor?

I just bought a new Dell 8300 with Radeon Pro 9800 and a 1703 LCD monitor with DVI.

I really like the monior, but I have a question. The monitor has a pivot function, so I can put it in an upright position. But I don't know and can't find how to pivot the image/text on the screen as well so as to get my take advantage of this pivot function and get the information on the screen upright as well.

Anybody with help?

Thanks in advance, Jos G.

The newer ATI drivers have a rotation function which I would recommend as the simplest solution. You can also use PivotPro.

Use a current ATi driver, have it install its system tray applet, enable pivotted resolutions. You'll then have "resolution quick pick" menu that includes your portrait modes.
PivotPro is inferior in that it runs portrait modes completely unaccelerated.

Hi guys,

Thanks for your quick replies. I had been searching the ATi website, but found absolutely nothing about pivot mode or portrait mode with the Radeon 9800 Pro. I downloaded the "Getting Started" guide and the 9800 User's Manual, but nothing about pivot or portrait support. In the features section also nothing.

The currently installed driver is 6.14.10.6378 (08/24/2003). In that driver's panel there is no "Enable ATI taskbar icon application" button, that is mentioned in the new User's Manual and that Peter apparently refers to. So I downloaded the newest CATALYST 4.6 package with driver 6.14.10.6451 (06/09/04) and will try to install that. Hope this solves my problem.

But I'll first read the "installation tips" on the ATi website. :D

Cheers, Jos G
