How to use temperature sensors?

I bought a 3.5" fan controller unit with temperature sensors. How do I use those sensors? do i need to glue/tape it to the surface where I wanted to measure? and where is the best palce to place the sensor for measuring HDD temps? thanks.

well, you can put it inbetween your cpu and HSF pressing it into the thermal compound- same w/ the other components or i guess you could jus use electrical tape if you want to put it on top your hard drive or something

thanks. I don't think i'll put it between the HSF and the CPU coz the sensor doesn't look too thin. maybe stick it on HSF base for relative temperature reading.
