How to use RAM as cache?

Hello, so I've heard that it's possible to use RAM memory for cache instead of HDDs or SSDs memory? Supposed to be faster and helps for the HDDs or SSDs longevity? Could someone explain more about this and guide me into doing this? I'm not using half of 8gb RAM anyway.
 
Windows already caches as default with free memory.

Only way to do it differently is basicly to create a RAMdisk and copy the apps etc you want to start over. But thats a mess with saves etc.
 
Every OS out there already uses as much available memory as possible for filesystem caching. With the way that virtual memory works there's no way to disable that.
 
Do a google search on a program called fancy cache. There is a free beta going that will do what you are looking for.
 
As other people have said, you don't actually need to do anything here. Your computer automatically uses up as much as possible memory as cache.

8Gb of RAM is lots, so most of the time, 5-6GB of that memory is probably being used purely for cache, all without you even having to bat an eyelid 😀
