Mods: Feel free to move this to off topic if it is inappropriate...or move it to the dumpster; See if I care.

From the site:
Transform a $3 pen into a $200 pen in just seconds. Mont Blanc pens are the worlds finest writing pens but they make specialized refills so you must buy their $200+ pens to use their amazing ink...until now. This is the easiest hack/adaptation to give anyone the king's writing ink.

Your link, sir: Text

Thoughts?

[Edit] And yes, I know there are more reasons than just the ink cartridge that people own Mont Blanc pens...

Very interesting and well presented description of the "hack" (literally) in the link you provided. But why nothing about overclocking the pen? Then you'd really be onto something.

Nice. Looks like about $15 though... any comment on the balance of the pen? Can you do cool pen tricks with it?

[Edit] I was kidding about the cool pen tricks. [/edit]

Lots of pictures and drama in the link, but in one line buy a G2 roller ball pen and Mont Blanc refill, take apart the pen and trim the stopper at the top of the refill until the length matches the G2, then put it back together.

Do the write thing.

This is such a cool idea! I'm gonna go get myself a G2 roller ball, go home and take the ink cart out of my Mont Blanc, trim it down and stuff it in the G2 body.

Thanks OP!

Worth a try I suppose. Are these pens really that great? Oh well, I'll give it a shot, my hand will be thanking me later! :D

the weight is still on the light side, but the rollerball refill from Mont Blanc is very smooth compared to the POS original gel ink from the G2.

Ghetto Mont Blanc is not bad for everyday use at the office, assuming you still need to write something these days.

Just picked up the G2 Pro and ink from Office Depot, works pretty well. Scissors cut through the plastic much easier than I anticipated and it works perfectly.

Thanks for the post OP.

Yes the Mont Blanc refills write MUCH smoother than any other ball point I've ever tried.

Granted a G2 won't be as weight-balanced, but whatever...it's the smooooth that matters.

i just spent nearly $20 to do this. Opted for the regular G2 so that you could see the "Mont Blanc" logo through the translucent body (yea... call me a name-brand whore). Anyway, I can't tell a significant difference between the "smoothness" of the Mont Blanc vs. the regular G2. The only thing I can really notice is that the Mont Blanc doesn't bleed like the G2 gel pen and it is a little bit finer. Ah well, the day I need to write someone by hand, I'll be doing it in style. Cheers!

Nice! Time to make a ghetto Mont Blanc.

I bet if that becomes a popular site, Mont Blanc will sue them for violating the DMCA.

G2 currently appears to be the only pen confirmed to have a close refill size, but there might be others out there.
