So ... How do you use chopsticks? It seems really hard to me, is there a trick?

Also, any things I should look out for when using chopsticks(such as not placing them resting on top of the plate?)

Are you supposed to use the chopsticks to mix the wasabi with the soy sauce?

hold the top stick like a pencil and wedge the bottom stick between your ringfinger and where your thumb connects to your hand. only the top stick moves.

etiquette - across the top of the plate is fine. dont leave them standing in your rice, symbolizes death in japan. dont pass food chopsticks to chopsticks. those are the biggies.

chopsticks are easy:

1) position ends of chopsticks between thumb and forefinger of each hand.

2) apply pressure to chopsticks by turning hands towards each other, causing chopsticks to bend.

3) continue applying pressure bringing the palms together until chopsticks break in half

4) toss chopsticks to the side

5) grab fork and eat
