How to use an ISO to image a hard drive

Ok this is going to sound pretty odd - but basically the BIOS on my laptop is screwed up and the CD-ROM is broken. I have an ISO image for a CD which overwrites the BIOS.

Is there a way to put the ISO on a hard drive instead of a CD? I tried mounting the hard drive as a secondary drive on another machine, copying the files over, but that fails - drive not bootable.

Depending on how old the machine is it would probably be easier to format a flashdrive to be bootable and then copy the files to it and then execute them.
