How to use an electric razor..? [Braun cruZer³ Shaver]

I bought a Braun cruZer³ Shaver (Model: 2865) for around 50 bucks in Bestbuy the other day.

I bought t because I am shaving a lot more regularly lately, since my beard is starting to turn grey and it looks really bad on me (I am a dark skinned indian.)

Long story short, I tried to use this razor, but it doesn't shave anything at all. It just seems to make a cutting noise, but the hair is always still there. Also, even though it hasn't cut the hair, the areas I pass the razor on burn really badly, as if I was using an old razor on my skin.

I tried putting a drop of oil on the razor, but it doesn't seem to help. Also tried putting the razor at different angles but it never seems to cut anything. I haven't used it much at all, just to trim my beard from time to time.

Any suggestions on how I can start to use this thing on a semi-daily (every two days) basis? I have no clue what I am doing with it. 🙁

I noticed quite a few of the reviews on Amazon were from people who had the same trouble you're having.

Try making sure your face/beard is dry when you're trying to use the razor.... that always makes it easier for me.

Yeah, dry skin is always a good thing with electric razors, also there is an adjustment period for some people. Depends on skin type, hair type, etc. But there is a fairly common complaint of burning.

Tried it both dry and wet. It doesn't seem to cut the hair at all. 🙁 I tried oiling up the razor a little bit [with the included oil] but it doesn't do anything. I am so bummed out since I could have used the money on a nintendo ds lite.

You've just described every electric razor I've ever used. Not a close shave, irritates the skin. You can get a close shave by spending a lot longer using it, but by then your face will feel like hannibal lecter's afternoon snack.

You're doing it all wrong. You need to be in the bathtub with your toaster for it to work right.

*Disclaimer: This is a joke. Using a toaster in a bathtub will kill your ass.

Only if it's plugged in.

I shave with my electric razor in the shower I feel the steam from the shower softens up my beard, also after i shave with the electric razor I always go back over with my double edge razor.

problem #1 is that you bought a cheapie electric shaver. my braun 7526 has made sure that i'll never be using a blade again.

I am kinda scared to go spend on another electric. I really want one badly too. 🙁

I've been using this electric razor for a year, and i love it: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AL...21?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=3760901

At first I looked at the price and was like wow, that's expensive. But I would easily spend that much to get my hands on a nice razor. I am just scared that I don't have the "face" for one.

I guess there is no way to train my face to behave with this one huh?

I love my panasonic. Mine was the model right before they came out with that slimmer, self cleaning model. I love how it can go so fast, it won't even cut any hair. The trimming attachment is great too, until mine stopped working... 🙁 But that was after a year and a half of solid performances.

Keep your face dry, make sure to go against the grain, don't move it too fast along your face. Should work then. Also don't wait too long in between shaves. In my case, my electric works best if I use it every other day. If I got more than about four days in between shaves, it gets too long and the hair jams the blades. so I use a manual razor in that case.

Been using Brauns since I was about 15. Had a cheaper one before, then bought a nicer model after college (the kind you can clean out in the sink).

I haven't been happy with any sub 100 dollar electric razors. To be fair, I have a thick beard that grows in every which way.
