How to use a laptop HD in a desktop?

Is there any way to use a laptop HD in a desktop? Need to get data off it, but the laptop is dead.

you need to buy an adaptor, which are pretty expensive iirc.

Internal 2.5" to 3.5" convertor (rail things plus cable/pin adaptor) is $5-10 (compgeeks, newegg, directron?, svc?)

they are all over e-bay for $.99

why would you want a laptop hard drive in a pc though,they are slow and expensive for their size.

Yep Any of those will work for you just fine. Not a bad deal IMO.

Amazing that people can't manage to read a one line post...

He's recovering data from an existing drive, doesn't need an external drive, and doesn't want to put a slow laptop drive in his desktop for normal use.

Just get one of those adapters, they work great, I have a few of them around work for that very purpose. (Recovering data from laptops or blade servers)
