How to Update Your Drivers in Windows 10

Although many times the device drivers are automatically updated along with Windows update, you may need to update them manually if:

• A device fails to work as expected
• You know that an updated version of the driver has been released by the vendor
• The device driver isn’t updated with Windows update

If any of the above conditions is true, here’s how you can update your device driver in Windows 10:

Step 1
Open Start context menu
Right-click Start. This opens the context menu for the Start button. Here you can find various options to manage power plans, launch the PowerShell window, manage network connections, etc.

Step 2
Open Device Manager
Click Device Manager from the context menu. This launches the Device Manger snap-in. Here you can find different tree-type categories containing all the devices your PC has.



Step 3
Update device driver
Expand the category for the device you want to update the driver for (Network adapters for this example), right-click the device (Dell Wireless here), click Update driver, click Search automatically for updated driver software on the next window, and wait while the process completes. This updates the old driver to its latest version. Once updated, most of the device related issues are likely to resolve automatically.





Note: You must repeat the above process individually for each device you want to update the driver for.

Note: Sometime most recent version of the drivers are not compatible with the devices. In such cases your computer may behave abnormally. If you notice any such activity, you can roll back the driver to its previous built, and wait for the vendor to release its more stable version.
