How to upconvert or change from analog to digital (hd capable... Dell E248WFP monitor)

I just got the Dell E248WFP 24'' monitor. I'm not too sure if it's in high definition mode or not... whenever I start the computer, the screen says "analog mode." The monitor has a resoultion of 1900x1200 resolution (here it is: http://accessories.us.dell.com...=1&s=bsd&sku=320-6095).


I searched the forums and someone said to just get a converter? which one should I get? what will this do? do I need a certain type of cable?


also - are there any programs to automatically configure the display settings (the fonts/icons seem blurry/unsharp)

Use DVI instead of an analog DSUB connection.

The instructions to do this were included with your display.
