How to Unlock Multiplier on my Thor. B 1700+ and KT266A?

I have an Epox 8KHA+ (Last BIOS), and as this processor has the Multiplier Locked (or at least I think, cos I change the multiplier in my BIOS and nothing happens)

Well, it´s a REAL THoroughbred B cos CPU-Z says that and the model number finishes with B... there is no doubt about that.

The fact is that my Mobo is a KT266A and I HAVE to close the L1 bridge.
How can I do it without spending money?
Do I have to use a scissor or something like that to cut the space between the L1 bridges, and then applying a conductive pen?

Thanks.

It's not the L1 it's the 3rd and 5th L3. All you have to do is take a sharp utensil (knife, scissors, xacto knife) and cut through the bridge. Don't cut too deep though because this can kill your CPU.

First of. Can you check if your board has a jumper where you need to set if your CPU is a tbird or palomino core?? If you set the jumper to tbird core. It'll auto unlock the CPU. That's what I did with mine.

Well, I actually CAN OC a bit, cos I can set the multiplier up to 12.5, and 133x12,5= 1662,5 , from 1467 stock.(1700+ to 2000+)
But if I wanna lock the multiplier to, lets say... X15...., What bridges do I have to cut?
And what VCore Voltage do you suggest?

PD: My Mobo hasn´t got any jumper to set these things, and all this tweak is made through BIOS.

Thanks.

After cutting the CPU, I have now an Athlon XP 1700+@ 2141 Mhz (142x15)
I locked it at x15, but I think I´m going to unlock the x16 multiplier cos it´s running too cool. 🙂
I´m very happy.
