How to uninstall Windows Media Player 8?

Is it possible to uninstall WMP 8 (in WinXP)? I know I can hack the registry and delete some executables, but would prefer to do it cleanly, if posible. WMP 8 is pissing me off to no end

cant you just change all the formats to a different player? Such as WMP 6.4 ("mplayer2" from the run menu)?
