I just bought a graphics tablet and the first thing I did, like a moron, was to connect it to my PC, forgetting that windows can't mind it's own god damn business for 3 seconds before installing crap you don't want without permission (then I saw a message on the driver package that I had just picked up shortly before jumping to plug the tablet into the PC, reading "Please install the driver first before plugging the tablet into your PC." in big, black letters ..... FFFFFFFFFFFFFffffffffffffffffffffffanyway

So how do I remove the default windows driver-thing?

Or, can I just install the third party driver over it?

This is the product, if it helps:

I don't see why you can't just install the 3rd party driver over it.

Me neither, but the instruction manual demands blood, and who am I to argue with it?

Do Control Panel/Computer Management/Device Manager

If there is an entry in the Device Manger click on the Device right click on it and choose and click Uninstall.

Disconnect the Device and reboot.

Umm.. Jack, that method has a low success rate. Windows 7/8 are so smart that they won't let go of drivers they once installed unless they decide they've found "newer" drivers.

I checked the link in the OP and the product doesn't have Win 8 drivers yet, so it's possible that the drivers came with it will be rejected, depending on published dates.

To OP: It doesn't hurt to try, though, and I would definitely follow advice given above first. (overwriting drivers and/or uninstalling the device) If all else fails you may have to track down the drivers and delete them manually via search or a 3rd party app.

Drivers is a generic name, they can be Microsoft Drivers. 3rd party that was approve by Microsoft, goos unapproved Drivers, and 3rd party Drivers of the "wild west".

Many get Unstalled by using the method that I describes, others YMMV.

In case of trouble it might take some time and work, this free util can find what get loaded at startup (there is a drivers tab) and help in disabling it.
